Assignment, Friday, October 14th

Good Morning!

1.) Chris Barton is coming!  I am so excited that we are going to have a published author in our school on Monday!  You get to listen to him tell his story.  I wonder if he had a writing notebook when he was in 4th grade. I wonder what he uses now to collect his ideas.
I have been reading some interviews and articles about him.  He is very curious about the world around him.
One of the ideas he has for figuring out his story is he writes what he wants to learn.  WOW!  Ladies and gentlemen, that opened up a WHOLE new world of ideas for me.  So, for this first post, I want you to make a list.... or..... start a story..... or..... go where ever your heart and mind takes you.  Just answer the following questions:

What are you curious about?

What would you like to learn?

Title of this post:  Learning Leads
(Lead is another name or synonym for start.).

2.) October is one of my favorites!  What is your favorite month?  Describe your favorite!  Do you want to share your thoughts in a poem?  Is a descriptive paragraph the best ways to share your ideas?  It is up to you!  Just share what you love about your favorite month!  Remember to use
                 amazing,
                     fantastic,
                           colorful,
                               thoughtful,
                                       dynamic,
                                              specific,
                                                   creative words
to paint a beautiful picture in your reader's mind!

Assignment, Friday, October 7th

Happy October!!

This morning, you have two blogs to write.

1.)   Writers, today you will use your writing notebook to write an October Acrostic.  You may use the words: Autumn, October, Halloween, Harvest or another one if you think of a great one that is about October.  Mrs. Nabors has October word lists on the back counter.  However, don't use a word if you don't know the meaning.

Typing hints:
  • You will need to press the enter key to take you down to the next line.
  • After you have typed your poem, you may add clip art.  Don't forget to give credit at the bottom of the post to the website where you got your pictures.
An example:
Overhead, the
Canopy of green
Turns to gold, breaks free
On autumn
Breezes,
Escaping before the cold winter
Rush

Title this post:  October Acrostic

2.) Readers, you have read some very imaginative books this six weeks.  Write your second blog post describing your favorite book from the 1st six weeks.  Was the setting amazing?  Did the character react in ways that you could understand? Were you able to imagine being a part of the story?

Title this post:  Imagination in My Reading

Remember, all of your posts should be written with complete sentences, capital letters, and punctuation.  I can not wait to read your words and share them with the other teachers!!

Happy Blogging!
